DODA, APR 05--- Doda Police  has warned of legal action against the “misuse” of messaging services like Whatsapp  to stoke communal tension or spreading rumors ."Misuse of mobile phone and  Internet messaging service to spread malicious rumours with an intention to stoke communal tension and violent activity constitutes commission of offences under the various provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prev) Act 1967, the Information Technology Act and Ranbir Penal Code."Anyone who forwards such messages (including audio, photos or videos) to other individuals or groups shall be liable for legal action under law," SSP Doda Mohd Shabir Khatana said adding that police had activated its technical cells in whole Doda district included Bhaderwah  to monitor activities following the reports that some miscreants were misusing the cyber space. SSP informed that police has identified some   Whatsapp groups, who are spreading rumours of Kashmir  to create panic and chaos in Doda area . “Police will keep close watch on such elements and won’t allow anyone to operate these groups to create law and order problems in the district,” Khatana  said.He said they have identified many persons, who have been added as members in such groups and said group admins are all  outsiders  .“We will examine credentials of every member in these groups before acting against them,” added SSP Doda .
