Govt likely to expand cabinet, introduce new BJP faces

JAMMU , APR 14---Govt likely to expand cabinet in Coming days and introduce new faces . Sources said that the BJP would give a proper representation to some of the districts which have earlier not been accommodated in the Mehbooba led government.“Some districts which were having no representation in the cabinet are likely to be accommodated to ensure the party strength at grass root level for 2019 assembly elections. One MLA from Doda district may likely be included in the cabinet,” sources said. “Similarly, BJP high command is facing pressure from the legislators of Chenab valley. The legislators are demanding that representation should be given to Chenab valley especially Doda district in the cabinet. The legislators of the area have pinned their hopes that they will be accommodated during the expansion,” sources privy to the developments said to Journalist Mohd Majid Malik .To ensure the introduction of some new leaders in Mehbooba led government, sources said that some existing ministers of BJP are likely to be dropped and their portfolios would be changed.They said the BJP MLA from Doda Shakti Raj Parihar has emerged front runner to accommodate for cabinet berth. With the BJP high command have shown consent to expand the cabinet, the BJP legislators included MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar , MLA Sukhnandan Chowdhary and MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina have also intensified their activities in making their place in cabinet.

Presently Doda district of Jammu region were left without any representation while other parts of state got highest representation in the Council of Ministry headed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti . A review of the 23 members Council of Ministry including the Chief Minister by this Journalist revealed that Doda, Ramban, Udhampur and Poonch, the four out of six districts in Jammu region, have been left without a single representation in the Council of Ministry while Jammu district topped with three Ministers—two in Cabinet rank and one Minister of State.Chenab Valley comprising three districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban, which gave the BJP four out of six Assembly seats, has again got only one Minister of State—Sunil Sharma from Kishtwar. In the previous PDP-BJP regime also, he was the lone MoS in the Ministry.

This time, however, Sharma has got Independent charge of Tourism apart from other portfolios.Doda and Ramban districts with two Assembly seats each, has no representation in the Ministry. BJP represents both Assembly seats of Doda and one in Ramban district. Sources informed that BJP could drop two Cabinet Ministers and one MoS and they are likely to be replaced with young turks. It is worthwhile to mention here that BJP National President Amit Shah is most probably coming to Jammu on April 29 and will meet all BJP Ministers and legislators and take forst hand feedback on performance and at the time the permance will set as parameter for Ministry reshuffle.
